Who is responsible for providing and maintaining services through the collection of taxes?

Many people complain about paying taxes. Without this money, our local governments could not provide many of the services and programs we need every day. We would not have new roads to drive on nor would roads, in need of repair, get fixed. The money collected by a town, as taxes, must be spent to provide services for its people. Public schools are provided and maintained through the use of tax dollars adults pay. When you go to the library or the local recreation center, do you ever wonder how it is payed for? Libraries, museums, parks and recreation centers are all provided for us through the use of tax dollars. All public record keeping which includes birth certificates, marriage licenses and the sale of houses is also provided for us.
